Mexico › Komon A'tel, Construyendo espacios de diálogo en San Juan Cancuc 2.0
Komon A’tel 2.0 project aims to strengthen community well-being and improve living conditions in San Juan Cancuc, Chiapas through key areas such as income generation, water, health, youth, and non-violent resolution of conflict. Led by 8 NGOs that form a territorial alliance, the project promotes dialogue, capacity building, and community self-management to address challenges such as poverty, health risks, water scarcity, and conflict. By creating spaces where families, leaders, and local government come together, the project encourages communities to identify problems, design solutions, and advocate for lasting change.
Key Achievements:
Over 120 participants (67 adults and 53 youth) trained in leadership, human rights, gender equality, and conflict resolution
Facilitated 18 community forums resulting in municipal actions plans in water, income generation, health
99 families implement new health and water practices, including sanitation, chlorination, and cistern cleaning.
4 local committees formed (youth, income generation, health, water) to propose solutions and coordinate action to identify issues
25 entrepreneurship projects received seed capital
Over 50% of participants report applying non-violent conflict resolution practices in their homes and communities
Promoted inter-institutional collaboration among NGOs, government, and communities for long-term sustainability
