Mexico › Alianza Crecer Juntos - Sitalá 2.0

The Sitalá 2.0 project aims to improve living conditions in Sitalá, Chiapas and promote community self-management Through the Alianza Crecer Juntos Sitalá, an alliance of eight NGOs, the project strengthens families and municipal structures to address health, water, communication, and income generation while linking local action with state and national agendas. By supporting midwives, health promoters, youth, producers, and community leaders, the project advances the right to health and water, fosters economic opportunities, and builds platforms for collective advocacy such as Tsoblej, a municipal dialogue and coordination space.

Key Achievements:  

  • Trains midwives, health and nutrition promoters, and local leaders in community health, holding health fairs to promote awareness and healthy practices 

  • Adult and youth community spokespeople trained to amplify community messages and advocacy 

  • Supports 117 community-based water boards (APAMs) to develop a Municipal Water Plan for 38 communities 

  • 17 indigenous young entrepreneurs trained and supported with seed capital to launch local businesses 

  • Strengthened the Mercadito Solidario (Solidarity Market), linking women producers with local community buyers 

  • Tsoblej recognized as a legitimate municipal coordination space, uniting 10 social structures to negotiate directly with local government and institutions.
